Matfors
Baptist Church is connected to the Swedish
Baptist Union and the Baptist Medelpad
District.
The foundations for the life of
the church is the Bible and its witness about the
life and identity of the Christian Church.
The first Baptist church in
Matfors was founded in 1856.
Aims
The aim of the church is to convey
God's love in the following ways:
The church wants to be a meeting
place, where people of different ages,
nationalities, beliefs, etc. can meet each other
and also meet God.
The church wants to be a place for
growing in faith, in fellowship and in personal
development.
The church wants to be a place of
worship, where we both individually and together
come before God for worship, praise, offering of
prayers, preaching, witnessing, Baptism and
Communion.
Premises
The church has its main activities
in the Baptist Church building, Centrumkyrkan,
situated in the middle of the village, Matfors.
The church also has activities in Hassel, Betania
Chapel.

specific activities.

Pastor. (Vacant)
The Church also has a volunteer
minister, Rev. Christopher Gammeddehewa. He is
the founder and senior Pastor of Sharon Felloship
Centre in Poddala (currently Calvary Church), Sri
Lanka and pastoral counselor at the New Life
Centre(Rehabilitation Centre For Drug-Addicts) in
Galle, Sri Lanka. Just now he work as a
staff-nurse in the retirement community complex
(Servicehus) in Matfors and as a Prison Chaplain
in Härnösand.
